Memento: privacy and credits

Memento — A life, week by week. Effective 20 September 2026.

The short version. Memento has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no server. What you enter stays in the app on your phone. If you choose to use your location, it is used once to find your country and is not saved.

What the app stores

Memento keeps the following in its own private storage on your device, so that it can draw your calendar:

None of this is sent to us. We do not operate a server for Memento and we cannot see your data.

Location

Location is optional. If you tap “Use my approximate location”, Memento asks for approximate location permission, reads your position once, and passes it to your phone’s built-in geocoding service to learn which country you are in. That service is provided by your device’s operating system and may contact its provider to do the lookup. Memento keeps only the resulting country. It does not save your coordinates, does not track you, and never uses location in the background. You can instead pick your country from a list and never grant the permission.

Backups made by your phone

If you have turned on Android’s device backup, your phone may include Memento’s data in the backup it keeps in your own Google account, so that your calendar can be restored on a new phone. That backup is controlled by you in your device settings and is governed by Google’s terms, not ours.

What the app does not do

The only time Memento opens a network connection on its own initiative is when you tap the World Bank source link, which opens in your browser.

Deleting your data

Everything Memento knows lives in the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your phone’s settings, deletes it. You can change your name, birthday, and country at any time in the app’s settings.

Children

Memento is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

About the numbers

The length of the calendar comes from average life expectancy at birth for your country. It is a population average, not a prediction about you, and not medical advice.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Questions: sparvatech@gmail.com. Memento is published by Sparva Tech.
